This delightful house with it's heritage listed facade and owned by one of my painting buddies was sold recently. It has been one of our painting venues for many many years and, I for one will miss it. This painting definitely has my heart in it.

Missing those drawing projects at art school!
Inspired by a similar found image, and using chalk and charcoal on brown paper I was transformed back to the Sydney Gallery School Meadowbank days.

Another reworked painting from the past, completed recently at Friday Art. This special image will remind many friends and family of days spent at Tanilba Bay, Paul's doggie canoe, and the happy memories of a very peaceful place. NFS

Reworking old paintings I'm finding to be an interesting exersice. I quite enjoyed changing this once grey and white painting, injecting some colour and giving it a rustic look.

Bird life is fascinating. I often wonder what birds are communicating to each other about with their distinctive chirping.
A watercolour 60x90 cms is framed and was completed some time ago when I was experimenting with various techniques.

These wise words were first seen on a canvas in a little cafe in Denman. I felt compelled to create one especially for my brother who lives there. His moving response will be memorable.

Beautiful, mysterious, unique are just a few words to describe the magic of our Great Barrier Reef.
If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, it's yours forever. If it doesn't, then it was never meant to be. Unknown.

Street in Antibes , France

When travelling watercolour sketching is a great way to gather visual information as well as taking photos.  I referenced this from a photo sent to me. Some practice for my painting trip to Nice in May.

Now hanging on our fence in the garden is Deodar Lavalliere, a sculpture created last year while attending the Sydney Gallery School's Open Studio program. Rubber bike inner tubing over welded wire holds together resin coated cedar blocks. Our felled tree lives on!

Happy New Year Sydney - Watercolour 15x30 cm.Unframed
In 2014 watercolour maybe my medium of choice as plans to travel and paint are underway. Trying to capture the spectacle of Sydney at it's best, I can say with hand on heart this little painting is very special to me. My Dad's name was William Waddell Sydney Sommerville.
